Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé C192 (2024-2025): The Evolution of a Supercar Icon

The second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé (C192), launching for the 2024 and 2025 model years, marks a dramatic shift for AMG’s flagship sports car. While the previous generation was a raw, rear-wheel-drive two-seater, the new C192 evolves into a more versatile and technologically advanced 2+2 grand tourer, aiming to compete directly with the legendary Porsche 911.

V8 Performance and Powertrain:

At the heart of the 2024-2025 AMG GT lies the legendary handcrafted 4.0L V8 Biturbo engine. The lineup starts with the GT 55 4MATIC+, producing 469 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. For those craving ultimate speed, the GT 63 4MATIC+ delivers a staggering 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.2 seconds. Both models are paired with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission and, for the first time, the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system as standard.

Interior Luxury and 2+2 Layout:

The biggest interior change for the C192 generation is the addition of optional rear seats, making it a 2+2 Coupé for the first time. The cabin is a blend of high-tech digital elements and ultra-luxury materials. It features a 12.8-inch vertical multimedia touchscreen powered by the latest MBUX system with AMG-specific menus. Drivers also enjoy AMG Performance seats with integrated headrests and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that offers customizable "Supersport" viewing modes.

Chassis and Handling Technology:

To maintain its supercar agility despite increased dimensions, the 2024-2025 AMG GT is packed with chassis tech. This includes the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with active roll stabilization, which replaces traditional mechanical anti-roll bars with hydraulic elements. Standard active rear-axle steering allows the rear wheels to turn up to 2.5 degrees, significantly improving cornering precision and reducing the turning circle at low speeds.

Aerodynamics and Design:

The design of the W192 is both muscular and functional. It features an active aerodynamic profile in the underbody and an active rear spoiler that adjusts to five different angles depending on the speed. The iconic Panamericana grille remains, now flanked by Digital Light headlights. The use of an aluminum spaceframe with a material mix of magnesium and carbon fiber ensures that the car remains rigid and lightweight, providing the perfect foundation for high-performance driving
