Benz Patent Motorwagen three-wheeler, model year 1886



The World's First Practical Car Powered by an Internal Combustion Engine


Specifications:


Inventor: Karl Benz (Karl Benz) of Germany.


Patent Date: January 29, 1886 (German Patent No. 37435).


Engine: A single-pole, four-stroke internal combustion engine, running on gasoline.


Power: Approximately 0.75 to 1 horsepower.


Design: Lightweight steel frame, three-wire system (two at the rear and one at the front), intercooler.


Drive System: Belt and chain drive, handlebar steering system (no traditional wheel).


Public Demonstration: First public demonstration on July 3, 1886, in Mannheim.


Development: Bertha Benz (Karl's wife) used the car in 1888 for its first long journey, marking the beginning of the evolution from horses to a self-propelled, autonomous vehicle.
